Slayton, MN - More than 1,300
sixth grade students from schools throughout southwestern Minnesota
experienced a wide range of environmental topics at the 14-county
regional Environmental Fair. This
unique, interactive learning experience is
sponsored jointly by the Area's Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs.)
Students spent Tuesday, Sept. 23
or Wednesday, Sept. 24 at the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton
learning the importance of our
resources and how our choices affect all aspects of the environment.
The stations featured soils,
trees, watersheds, prairies, recycling, web of life, fish, waterfowl,
storm water runoff, and maple syrup production. Large group
programs focused on water quality and wildlife.
Educators from the Science Museum of MN,
Minnesota Zoo, Prairie Ecology Bus Center, Soil and Water Conservation
Districts, Counties, University of Minnesota Extension, Department of
Natural Resources and the Natural Resources Conservation Service were
among the presenters. |
