The MASWCD Poster, Essay and Video Contests were designed to give students an understanding of the importance of the local soil and water conservation district in conserving our soil and water resources.  The theme for the 2002-2003 contest was "Our Soil - A Layer of Life." 

POSTER CONTEST

The MASWCD Poster Contest was divided into two categories:   Mural and Poster.  Fifth and sixth grade students were eligible to enter the contest.  2002-2003 contest winners received cash prizes along with having their poster on display at the Minnesota State Fair, in the Department of Natural Resources Building.  The posters were on display at the MASWCD Annual Convention in December, 2003.  In addition, the first place poster contest winner received a scholarship to conservation camp.  Contest winners for the 2002-2003 contests were as follows (click on the thumbnails to enlarge the photos):

ESSAY CONTEST

2002-2003 contest winners received savings bonds and were invited to read their essays at the MASWCD Annual Convention in December, 2003.  The contest was open to Minnesota students as follows:

Elementary Division.....grades 5-6

Junior Division...........grades 7-9

Senior Division...........grades 10-12

VIDEO CONTEST
