Award Programs

 

MASWCD offers several award programs to recognize the outstanding conservation achievements taking place through SWCDs and their cooperators.

MASWCD District Capacity/SWCD of the Year Award

(completion and timely submission of this application is a pre-requisite to participation in all other awards offered through MASWCD)

  • Stimulates leadership within Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) to go above and beyond the base capacity.  This will help SWCDs to enable every citizen in Minnesota to be conservation minded, so that every acre of Minnesota land can be used according to its capability and treated according to its need for conservation and development.

MASWCD Outstanding Conservationist Award

with support from The Farmer magazine

  • Recognizes individuals, conservation organizations, and others for outstanding accomplishments with implementing conservation practices and improving Minnesota’s natural resources.

MASWCD Outstanding Supervisor Award

  • Honors a SWCD Supervisor who has demonstrated leadership and achieved significant results in the conservation of Minnesota’s soil and water resources.

MASWCD/MPCA Community Conservationist Award

  • Provides SWCDs with the opportunity to nominate an individual, business, company, municipality, or organization for their concern, cooperation, and/or implementation of conservation practices in a community environment.

MASWCD/DNR Forestry Outstanding Forest Steward Award

  • Honors landowners who have implemented innovative forestry conservation activities, demonstrated leadership and achieved significant results in the protection of Minnesota’s forestry resources.

MASWCD Teacher Award (professional educators)

  • Honors a K-12 educator/professional teacher who has created innovative conservation education activities for reaching students.

MASWCD Environmental Education Award (non-professional educators)

  • Honors an individual or organization for creating innovative conservation education activities, reaching students and a variety of other audiences.

  • Professional teachers are not eligible for this award, but may be nominated through MASWCD’s Teacher Award.

MASWCD Media Award

  • Honors an individual or organization for enhancing the visibility of SWCDs and their programs in Minnesota.
