The following awards were presented at the MASWCD annual convention December 3-4, 2001.

Stevens SWCD - SWCD of the Year Award.  The purpose of this award is to stimulate leadership within the Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs). This will help SWCDs to enable every citizen in Minnesota to be conservation minded, and help ensure that every acre of Minnesota land be used according to its capability and treated according to its need for conservation and development.  The award is sponsored by MASWCD and The Farmer Magazine.

Tom Schulz, Wadena SWCD - MASWCD Supervisor of the Year Award honors a SWCD Supervisor who has demonstrated leadership and achieved significant results in the protection of Minnesota’s natural resources.

Chad Moyer, Wadena SWCD - MASWCD Media Award honors an individual or an organization who has enhanced the visibility of SWCDs and their programs in Minnesota.

Mary Hansen, Wadena SWCD - MASWCD Environmental Education Award honors an individual or an organization who has created innovative conservation education activities reaching students and a variety of other audiences.

East Otter Tail SWCD & NRCS - Buffer Achievement Award recognizes outstanding achievement in implementing conservation buffers on the Minnesota landscape.  The program is open to Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) that are members of the MASWCD and to all NRCS Field Offices in Minnesota.  The award is sponsored by MASWCD, the National Conservation Buffer Council and the Minnesota Pheasants Forever.

Michael Sieve, Root River SWCD - MASWCD/Department of Natural Resources Outstanding Forest Steward Award honors landowners who have implemented innovative forestry conservation activities, demonstrated leadership and achieved significant results in the protection of Minnesota’s forestry resources.  

MASWCD Legislator of the Year Award.  This award recognizes the achievements of a legislator in helping to accomplish the goals of soil and water conservation districts.

MASWCD/Farmer Magazine Outstanding Conservationist Awards.  This award recognizes individuals, conservation organizations, etc. for outstanding accomplishments with implementing conservation practices and improving Minnesota’s natural resources.  The award is sponsored by MASWCD and the Farmer Magazine.

Kevin Scheidecker, Fillmore SWCD - SWCD Employee of the Year, sponsored by the Board of Water and Soil Resources, BWSR
